I met Sarah when we both still lived in Orlando. A mutual friend (shout out to the lovely Julia) had started a Bike Babe Brigade that met at sunrise on Sunday mornings, and I met Sarah through one of these rides. It’s been such a joy to see Sarah and Colin not only take the plunge to move across the country from Florida to Colorado, but to commit themselves to marriage! Their engagement story is special, so I’ll let Sarah tell it:
“Colin planned the whole night and I was half expecting to stop somewhere for a nightcap until we pulled up to the Cheesman Pavilion. I was confused when he got out, but noticed that the steps were lit up with tea light candles. I anxiously followed. Did I think he was going to propose? The thought crossed my mind, but I still wasn’t sure. Colin rushed ahead and was waiting for me at the top of the steps inside a circle of rose petals. He pulled out… a portable speaker, set it on the podium, and we slowly danced to the original “La Vie en rose” by Édith Piaf. After I said yes and was still processing what just had happened, I could see Colin peering over my right shoulder. And then came another question: “How do you feel about adding another member to the family?” I turned around to the sound of a tiny four-month-old, Australian cattle dog/border collie puppy galloping over. She leapt into my arms and immediately smothered me with kisses. “Taro” was her shelter name, which seemed pretty fitting considering the black and white spots on her chest, head, and arms. Later that evening when we were all snuggling, yes – Marley, too, we decided that the name “Rose” would be just as fitting and a beautiful reminder of a pretty magical night.”
